Pet owners often confuse “Dog walking” or “Daily Dog Walking” with Pet Sitting. As an owner of a “Pet Sitting ” business that specializes I can understand why. It’s confused because so many “Pet Sitting” services have flooded the market since the early 2000’s that offer both & a combination of different types of services. Let me explain the Difference Pet Sitting Verses Dog Walking.
I learned early on in my career in the pet industry the Difference Pet Sitting Verses Dog Walking. My business Shannon’s Pet Sitting is a “Pet Sitting” business. In that we provide vacation or out of town care for pet when their owners are physically out of town on vacation or for business for several days. We “sit” for the pets. We come in several times a day or spend the night in the pet owners home to care for the pets while they are away. We are NOT a daily dog walking service. We do not offer this service because everyone wants their dog walked in essence between 11am-2pm. you can only do so many dog walks in that time period. So if all those slots are filled with Daily Dog walks when A pet owner who is going out of town on vacation call – where do you put them in the schedule & make time for them? Therefore we are a “Pet Sitting” business specialized in vacation & out of town care.
“Dog walking” or “Daily Dog Walking” is not to be confused with “Pet Sitting”. Generally speaking “Dog Walking” or “Daily Dog Walking” is when service comes into the pet owners home usually Monday through Friday to let the dog out to go potty between the hours of 11am-2pm.
Difference between Pet Sitting vs. Dog Walking is actually quite clear. It makes sense to pet owners once it is explained to them. Unfortunately over the years the combination & offering of several types of pet care services has caused confusion as to the Difference Pet Sitting Verses Dog Walking.
